Quick pics of the emergency tiller.

I had to turn the pipe around to make it fit, as you can see it just clears the back of the cockpit. I have to pop the helm seat off to
make it fit. Note that the wrenches
needed to install it are taped onto it.

Taking these pics (in a retrospective moment) made me realize that if I install a propane locker under the helm seat the emergency tiller won't work any more. That's okay, I have time to think about it and figure something out.

Somebody with a C&C 38 mentioned on the Sailnet list that this should work fore and aft instead of side to side. I hadn't thought of that, but it will also work with the wheel removed. (Pic below)

Naturally, I removed the wheel and stuck the
Edson nut in my pocket, then leaned back over the open cockpit locker to take these pictures, and the nut fell out of my pocket and dropped down under the engine. (Sigh.)
Oh well, I needed to do a little inspection tour there anyway.
